Problem
Ignisia is MIT-WPU's flagship national-level AI hackathon: a 24-hour, on-campus build sprint with a prize pool of over ₹1,00,000, open to students from every university in India. The event needed a website that could carry its identity, explain the format and handle a large volume of applicants on any device.
Approach
A fast, responsive single-page site built with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, so it stays light on the phones most students use. The visual language is dark, with glass surfaces and a fluid violet backdrop; motion is done with GSAP and kept to moments that matter.
What's on the site
- Hero with the event's three-word line, "Think, Build, Evolve", the headline facts and a live countdown to the start.
- Registration split by participant type, with separate routes for MIT-WPU students and everyone else.
- Brochure, timeline, themes, prizes and eligibility, each one scroll away from the top.
- A photo gallery and the organising committee.
- Background video streamed with HLS so it starts quickly and adapts to the connection.
- Search basics done properly: sitemap, robots file, web manifest and structured metadata.
After the event
Ignisia '26 ran on 6 and 7 March 2026 with more than 500 participants. The site has since grown into the home of the Ignisia AI and Innovation Club, with the hackathon's winners and certificates, and a calendar of the club's upcoming events.
Outcome
The official site for the event, live at ignisia.tech.
